ISLAMABAD: Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan President AJKMC/ex-Premier AJK has
appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir across the Line of Control and world over to observe January 5 as the United Nations Mandate in Kashmir
Day to draw the attention of the global forums towards unmet pledges of UN to settle Kashmir via open, honest and international plebiscite.
It
was on January 5, 1949 that the UNCIP (UN Commission on India and Pakistan) had passed a pledge through its resolution signed and accepted both by
Pakistan and India and ratified by the UN Security Council to let Kashmiris exercise their right to self-determination to settle their final political
destiny. This landmark verdict of the UN is marked as UN Kashmir Mandate every year by Kashmiris living in AJK, Pakistan, IHK and abroad as a reminder
to the world forums engaged in promoting human rights.
The MC govt in AJK in 2009 had formally notified it as UN Kashmir Mandate observable
officially as annual Kashmir dispute related important milestone in peaceful Kashmir struggle.
Sardar Attique Khan in his appeal assured the
global community that once it takes the process of solving Kashmir dispute, the people of J&K would fully stand by their efforts. "Let me assure the
world that Kashmiris wherever they may be want peaceful South Asia, friendly relations between Pakistan and India but at the same time call upon all
to settle this dispute amicably as UN Kashmir Mandate of January 5, 1949 provides them a clear peaceful roadmap", he urged.
He has directed
his party cadre to observe the event as renewable of their faith to pursue Kashmir struggle under all circumstances. Kashmir struggle, he explained,
is part of the same process of history that had settled once for all the greater political movement in South Asia represented by All India Muslim
League under dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Therefore an equal obligation lies on the shoulders of leaders and workers of all
political parties and their respective leaderships in the country towards the urgency of settling Kashmir dispute . Kashmiris are playing their part
by offering immense sacrifices visible to the world, he added.
On Jan five big gatherings will be held in Muzaffarabad and Mirpur besides
several suburban meetings at the towns level. The Muzaffarabad UN office would be presented a memorandum on the day by the party president Sardar
Attique Ahmed Khan the same day.
