Geelani warns Govt against shifting detainees to Jammu jail Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has warned the
government of serious consequences if “political prisoners” incarnated at the Srinagar Central Jail are shifted to jails outside the
Valley. “Hurriyat will not remain silent over this unjustified and unnecessary step,” Geelani said, according to a statement issued
from New Delhi. The Hurriyat chairman expressed deep concern that government was planning to shift detainees on large scale from central jail
Srinagar to Jammu jails. “In this connection a list of 25 detainees including those serving life imprisonment has been prepared and they have
been asked without any justification to be ready for the shiing,” Geelani alleged. “Those who are being shifted include Mohammad Ayoub
Dar Rawalpora, Mohammad Ayoub Mir Srinagar, Mohammad Shafiq Khan Khanshib Budgam, Ali ohammad sheikh Pattan, Noor Mohammad Tantray Tral, Feroz Ahmad
Bhat Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat Khag Beerwah, sami Ullah sheikh Palhalan Pattan, Mohammad Ashraf Wakoora, Mohammad Akram Najar
Kakapora, Abdul Majeed Bhat Nowgam, Nissar Ahmad Khan Chanapora, Mohammad Aslam Khan Bandipora, Reyaz Ahmad Panthachowk, Javed Munishi Maithan, Reyaz
Ahmad Chechi Bandipora, Bashir Ahmad Bukhari Kreeri Pattan, Imran Khan Srinagar, Wajahat Irshad Srinagar, Ali Mohammad Wani Natipora, Bilal Ahmad dar
Budgam, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Abdul Majeed,” Geelani added. “The detainees are being shifted primarily due to
political vendetta. The main motive behind this move is to subject the detainees to physical and mental agony so that they will relinquish their
mission,” Geelani said, adding that the decision was against Indian constitution as according to a ruling by Indian Supreme Court, detainees
should be lodged in places where their relatives can easily meet them without much wastage of time. “The policy makers in New Delhi and their
stooges in Kashmir are trying to dampen the spirit of the pro freedom people. However they will never succeed. People of Kashmir are fighting for a
pious cause based on truth and our courageous detainees are valiant in their resolve,” Geelani said. He also appealed Amnesty International and
Red Cross members in Kashmir to devote their attention towards this injustice with the detainees and take up this issue with government of India.
