:. Hurriyat (M) hints at accepting PM’s offer

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday hinted at entering into parleys with New Delhi, stating that the amalgam would tread the path it asked others to join for finding a solution to the Kashmir issue.

“The Hurriyat Conference has already announced to follow a certain track and despite obstacles, it will continues with the endeavor for such effort could bear desired results,” a spokesman of the amalgam quoting Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, told Press Bureau of India in a statement here.

The statement was released after joint meeting of Conglomerate’s Executive and General Council which was chaired by the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar.

“The political principle of Hurriyat Conference is to carry everyone with it despite attempts to create confusion. The Hurriyat Conference strongly stands by its stand not to be a victim of confusing politics and in this regard, a fervent appeal is made to people to exhibit farsightedness at this critical juncture,” Mirwaiz added.

Today’s meet comes in the back drop of failure of the amalgam to build consensus with Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah over dialogue with New Delhi.

Recently a 4-member committee of Hurriyat Conference (G) comprising its general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, advocates Zahid Ali, Muhammad Yusuf Nadeem and Muhammad Shafi Lone met Bilal Gani Lone and Fazal-ul-Haq Qureshi at Hurriyat (M) headquarters at Rajbagh here. But the meeting remained inconclusive.

More than a week’s time has elapsed since Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reached to Hurriyat Conference with fresh offer for talks.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on October 28 had invited the resistance leadership for talks if they have “meaningful ideas for promoting peace and development in Kashmir.”

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is likely to respond in black and white to the fresh offer by New Delhi tomorrow when he would address a Friday Congregation in the historic Jamia Masjid here on 'Jammu Martyrs Day'.

Meanwhile APHC (M) in a press release disclosed that it has received an invitation from Centre for the Study and Developing Society, (CSDS) a Delhi based think tank. In this regard Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat and Bilal Ghani Lone will represent APHC in  proposed one day seminar titled 'The Future of Jammu & Kashmir Polictics' on Nov 7, the spokesman said.

The CSDS is largely funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research Institute (ICSSR).
