:. Hurriyat (M) vows unity amid disagreement over "Quiet Diplomacy"

Srinagar: A day after executive council meeting of the Hurriyat Conference (M) remained inclusive on talks with New Delhi, the chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday asserted to keep “house intact” while pursuing unity with the other factions.

“We not only want completely harmony among executive, general council and the working committee of the Hurriyat but also desire concord with other leaders and organizations outside it, so as to formulate joint strategy for resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people,” Mirwaiz said, while addressing a congregation at historic Jamia Masjid in old city here.

The articulations of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq come a day after marathon executive council witnessed discord among various executive members on dialogue with New Delhi, particularly “quiet diplomacy”.

The executive meeting, which spanned over five hours, remained inconclusive over the talks and the amalgam even delayed naming the team for upcoming visit to Pakistan.

Further venting intentions on joint strategy, the Hurriyat chairman said that there was need for common solution to the Kashmir issue.

“Apart from addressing the wishes and aspiration of the Kashmir issue, the solution should also be acceptable to India as well as Pakistan,” he added.

He also reiterated that the “ongoing struggle” has entered into a crucial phase and urged all the pro-freedom groups to forge unity.

“There is a daring need that we all should stop accusing and resort to mud-slinging. We need to exhibit sincerity at this crucial juncture,” he said, adding, “There is a need to get our act together and announce such a strategy that embodies wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

He said that there was continuous pressure on India from world to address the Kashmir issue. He also urged people to be aware of the gimmicks of “Indian agencies.”

Mirwaiz said that no party or individual can put the Kashmir issue into the lap of New Delhi or Pakistan against the wishes of the people.

He also paid tributes to the people of Doda, Kishtwar and Bhdaerwah for their ‘sacrifices and resolve” for the ongoing struggle. (PBI)
