Srinagar: Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit Wednesday contended the claims of army that bear killed two of its commanders in Shopian forests in south Kashmir on November 03.
A spokesman of the outfit, in a statement to Press Bureau of India, while terming the army claims as “ploy to daunt militants”, accused troops of mutilating the bodies of its commander after killing them in an encounter.
According to the Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Col JS Brar, troops 9 Rashtriya Rifles recovered two dead bodies from a cave hideout in Dandaloo Nar area of Shopian on the evening of 02 November last.
Col Brar added that “Both bodies were mauled badly by some wild animal, apparently by a bear.”
However, the Hizb spokesman, Ahsan Illahi said: “There were actually five ‘Hizb men’ (militants) in the area, while two of them were killed, three others managed their way out.”
“As a part of army’s continuous deeds, they mutilate the bodies,” he said, adding, “Even a lay man would accept the fact that two trained commanders loaded with weaponry can’t be killed by a bear.”
The slain militants were identified as District commander, Siafullah and tehsil commander Kaiser.
“Such claims are made to daunt the other cadres,” he claimed. (PBI)
