:. 'Kashmir key to peace' MeP |
 Brussels, Nov 18: Sajjad Karim, Conservative Member of European Parliament has said that the solution of Kashmir conflict was essential key and crucial for the betterment of relations between Pakistan and India. During a meeting with Ali Raza Syed, President Kashmir Advisory Council , Mr Sajjad said that he will continue to highlight the human rights violations committed by India in Kashmir.
Sajjad Karim, the member of EU parliament from UK has been recently appointed as Legal Affairs Spokesperson of European Conservative and Reformist Group.
Ali Raza Syed greeted Sajjad Karim on his new responsibility at the European Parliament and discussed the different aspects of latest situation in Kashmir.
Sajjad Karim said that EU believes solution of the Kashmir dispute is vital for betterment of relations between Pakistan and India. He assured Mr Raza that EU parliament would do every step which is in its jurisdiction.
Sajjad Karim serves on the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade and is Rapporteur on EU-India Trade Relations. He is Chairman of the European Parliament Friends of Pakistan Group and Vice-Chairman of the European Parliament's Equality and Diversity Intergroup.
As a Rapporteur Committee on International Trade Mr Sajjad presented a report on free trade agreement with India in which he highlighted the atrocities of Indian forces in Kashmir.
The European Parliament (EP) adopted its report on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India during its plenary session in the French city of Strasbourg in March this year with 326 votes in favour, 226 against and 3 abstentions.
The said report also included concerns of European Parliament over extrajudicial killings and unmarked mass graves in the Indian Administrated Kashmir and called upon the Indian Government to grant access for the UN Special Rapporteurs to investigate these mass graves.
