Srinagar, July 24 (AIP): To compensate the academic loss suffered by students in the past one month, the University of Kashmir Saturday decided to cancel all holidays henceforth.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Heads of the Departments and Deans of various faculties and top officers of the KU administration on Saturday. The KU vice-chancellor Prof Riyaz Punjabi presided over the meeting, which lasted for almost four hours.
Prof Punjabi urged the teachers to gear up to complete the syllabus so that all examinations were held in time. The members decided that there shall be no holidays in the varsity henceforth. These include Sundays, Gazetted holidays, summer and winter vacations. It was decided that the varsity shall operate from 9.30 AM to 6 PM with immediate effect.
The meeting decided that students appearing in the forthcoming 1st and 3rd semesters shall be given “some additional time” before asking them to appear in the examination. Similarly in December, when 2nd and 4th semesters are held, the students shall be given additional time.
The students have been asked to cooperate with the teachers so that the syllabus was completed in time.
